The Joy Of Coupons

Joy Of Coupons

I work at Walgreens during the busiest times of the year as a cashier and cosmetics person and fortunately, I know a lot about how to use coupons. This is because of how I had to do hours upon hours of reading in the training room toward the back of the store, all by myself, in order to be trained to use coupons. I also had to be taught in person what coupons are all about. Being trained for that long is not as easy as it looks. This is especially when it comes to coupons. These pieces of paper are pretty simple to use, in my opinion. At my work, we have a lot of different types of coupons whether they are monthly coupons or coupons that are in our weekly ad. Since I’ve been working at Walgreens, I’ve learned a lot about how to use coupons from rebates zone.

The main point of using coupons is to get discounts. Usually you get new coupons at the start of the week, in my case, it was on Sundays. There are many people who can use coupons. However, at my place of work, you might need to use a rewards card which allows you to get the coupons in the first place. In my opinion, it’s not easy finding coupons that are useful to the type of groceries or products that you use. Usually, the coupons are for obscure items that I never plan on using which can get slightly frustrating. For example, we have had a sale on candles. I have no idea why we had a sale on those because not many people wanted to buy them in the first place. The sales are usually on off brands as well which are not as good as the regular and popular brands that are more usable to the customers’ eye. For some reason the more expensive products do not get a coupon making customers not want to buy them.

Coupons can give you lower prices. Everyone knows that… well almost everyone. The coupons usually give the customer a lower price or the creator of the coupon sometimes take a certain percentage off of that product. Most of the time, however, the price is set a little bit lower to look more desirable. It usually works. This is because at Walgreens, we usually run out of milk when it’s on sale for two dollars and forty nine cents. They are usually gone within the week and we always have to replenish our stock when the next truck day comes rolling around. It is a real pain because many people want those items and we don’t have any left. At that point, I have to call a manager to give out something called a rain check but that is a different topic for another essay. The great thing about working at a place with coupons is you get the ‘in’ with which items are going to be on sale for the next week. If your heart desires, you can start reserving what will be on sale for the next week and buy them before anyone ever thinks of using a coupon. It is really nice actually.

In conclusion, coupons can be a real joy. They provide customers with a lower price and sometimes a higher percentage off. They might only be for people who have a card with the drugstore or store and sometimes people over buy the product which makes it sold out for the remainder of the week. The tiny slips of paper that can be sometimes cut out can be really helpful for those who are looking to not empty their wallets.
