Overview
Ford, the famous American automaker, had launched a successful car in India in the form of Ford Figo. In India, it was one of the few very successful cars to have come from the stables of Ford, especially before the EcoSport came in. As more and more Indians are inclined to buy smaller cars like hatchbacks or compact sedans these days, Ford has decided to stamp its presence in the compact sedan market by introducing a brand new sedan based on the successful hatchback, Figo.
First time in Auto Expo at Delhi
This new car was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. It is a part of the new global concept of Ford named One Ford. Accordingly, the new sedan will be competing with the likes of Honda Amaze, Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest. As such, it will be measured less than four meters in length and can avail the duty cuts offered by the government. This has helped the company to price the car competitively. As a result, the Ford Figo Sedan Price in India is expected to be priced in the range of rupees 5.50 lakh to 7.50 lakh.
Features
However, in contrast to the model unveiled at the auto expo, the production version will be making its entry on the roads sans some extra features like headlamps, tail lamps, fog lamps, wheels and tyres, which will push the cost high, if included. Also missing from the list will be certain features like disc brakes and so on.
Additional Features
This car has made its global debut, and it looks like the cars like new Mondeo and Taurus. Some of the desirable features included in this car are bold new grille, and a set of headlamps that fit into the new design wonderfully well. The profiling is in line with most of the other compact sedans, but the rear is somewhat unpleasing. Ford has chosen to put the number plate on the rear bumper, and not on the boot lid, resulting in an uninspiring look at the back. In addition to it, the car looks disproportional from the back due to the resultant vertical styling.
Interior
The features on the inside of the sedan are not yet completely known. However, it is expected to carry on the excellent features and comforts that one usually associate with a Ford car. A modern, tech savvy interior with lot of connectivity on the go options are expected. It is also expected to share many features with the Ford EcoSport, so that costs can be kept at the minimum.
Final words
Ford is yet to issue a definite date for the launch of the Figo sedan. It is expected to hit the Indian roads either by the end of 2014 or at the beginning of the next year.
